In the area of developmental communication, the mission of SHAILS is to promote international collaboration in Education, and to facilitate the marketing of Canadian Universities abroad.

SHAILS Communication strives to help its foreign partners achieve sustainable growth through symbiotic affiliations. It collaborates with Canadian universities and colleges in building a culture of lifelong learning, applying best practices and a user-centric focus. Through international cooperation, it actively explores the possibilities of multifaceted education; and creates global opportunities for the transfer of knowledge and skills, and the promotion of Canadian values and culture.

The primary objectives are to:

Support Canadian universities and colleges in their commitment to internationalization
Create new alliances between Canadian and foreign educational institutions
Initiate and manage international collaborative projects
Attract international students to Canadian educational institutions
Facilitate student and faculty exchanges, and export of Canadian courseware
Collaborate in international educational research initiatives
Promote Canadian training services and expertise overseas
Partner with Canadian enterprises for global and distance education
